1. Introduction

These Repair Terms & Conditions explain how MKTECHSUPPORT provides diagnostic, repair, maintenance, upgrade and technical support services.

They apply to customers who request repairs or related technical services through our website, by contacting MKTECHSUPPORT directly or through another authorised booking method.

These terms must be read together with our general Terms & Conditions and other applicable policies.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or limits consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African legislation.

2. Repair and Technical Services

MKTECHSUPPORT may provide the following services, depending on equipment type, technical requirements and available resources:

  • Computer and laptop diagnostics.
  • Hardware fault identification.
  • Component replacement and upgrades.
  • Software troubleshooting.
  • Operating system installation and support.
  • Virus and malware removal.
  • Networking and connectivity assistance.
  • Preventative maintenance and cleaning.
  • Data-related technical assistance.
  • Other approved IT support services.

Availability of a particular service does not guarantee that every device or fault can be repaired successfully.

3. Repair Bookings

Customers may request a repair through the MKTECHSUPPORT online booking system or another available contact method.

Customers should provide accurate contact information, device details, a description of the problem and any other information reasonably necessary to assess the request.

Submission of a repair booking confirms that a request has been received. It does not guarantee acceptance of the equipment or successful completion of the repair.

MKTECHSUPPORT may contact the customer to confirm service availability, collection or delivery arrangements, diagnostic requirements and other relevant details.

Customers can submit a booking through our Repair Booking page.

4. Equipment Ownership and Authorisation

By submitting equipment for service, the customer confirms that they own the equipment or have appropriate authority from its lawful owner to request the work.

Customers must disclose any relevant ownership, access or security restrictions that may affect the requested service.

MKTECHSUPPORT may request reasonable verification of ownership or authorisation where necessary.

We may decline work where there are reasonable concerns about unlawful possession, unauthorised access or misuse of equipment.

5. Equipment Condition and Inspection

Equipment may be inspected when it is received to identify visible damage, missing components or other relevant conditions.

Customers should inform MKTECHSUPPORT about known damage, previous repair attempts, liquid exposure, intermittent faults and other relevant problems.

The condition of equipment may affect the repair approach, estimated cost, required parts or likelihood of successful repair.

MKTECHSUPPORT will exercise reasonable care when handling customer equipment.

6. Diagnostics and Fault Assessment

A diagnostic assessment may be required to identify the cause of a reported fault.

Diagnostic work may involve inspection, testing, software analysis or reasonable disassembly of equipment.

Where a diagnostic fee applies, the fee and relevant conditions will be disclosed before the chargeable diagnostic work begins.

Customers will be informed of the findings and available repair options where reasonably possible.

Some faults may be intermittent, hidden or dependent on conditions that cannot always be reproduced during an initial assessment.

7. Repair Quotations and Estimates

Where required, MKTECHSUPPORT will provide a quotation or estimate for the proposed repair work.

The quotation may identify labour, replacement parts, diagnostic charges and other applicable costs.

A quotation may be subject to supplier availability, component compatibility and a stated validity period.

If additional faults or costs are identified, MKTECHSUPPORT will communicate the revised requirements and obtain any approval required by law before proceeding.

No chargeable repair work will be undertaken without the customer's required authorisation.

8. Customer Approval

MKTECHSUPPORT will seek the customer's approval for chargeable repair work in accordance with applicable law.

Approval may be recorded through an authorised electronic process, written communication or another appropriate method.

Customers should review the proposed work, estimated costs and relevant conditions before approving a repair.

Where approval is declined, MKTECHSUPPORT will not proceed with the declined work.

Any previously authorised and lawfully incurred diagnostic or service charges may remain payable.

9. Replacement Parts and Components

Repairs may require replacement parts or components sourced from manufacturers, distributors or other suitable suppliers.

Where material to the customer's decision, MKTECHSUPPORT will disclose whether a proposed part is new, refurbished, reconditioned or otherwise described.

Replacement components will be selected with reasonable regard to compatibility, safety and the approved repair requirements.

Part availability may affect repair timelines and quotations.

Applicable statutory rights relating to parts and repair services remain in force.

10. Repair Timelines

Repair completion times may vary depending on the fault, diagnostic findings, replacement-part availability and the complexity of the work.

Any estimated completion date will be communicated as accurately as reasonably possible.

Delays may occur where additional testing, customer approval or supplier assistance is required.

MKTECHSUPPORT will make reasonable efforts to inform customers of material changes affecting their repair.

11. Repair Tracking and Status Updates

MKTECHSUPPORT may provide repair status information through its online tracking system.

Customers may use their assigned tracking information to view available updates about their repair request.

Tracking information is intended to assist communication and may not reflect every internal technical activity immediately.

Visit our Repair Tracking page to check an available repair status.

12. Customer Data and Backups

Customers are encouraged to create a current backup of important files and information before submitting equipment for repair, whenever reasonably possible.

Certain repairs may involve storage devices, operating systems, software or other components that contain personal or business information.

MKTECHSUPPORT will take reasonable steps to protect information encountered during authorised technical work.

Where a repair is likely to require data deletion, reinstallation or another action that could affect stored information, we will communicate the relevant risks and seek appropriate authorisation.

We do not guarantee that damaged, corrupted or inaccessible data can always be recovered.

Nothing in this section excludes liability for a failure to exercise legally required care and skill.

13. Passwords and System Access

Some technical services may require temporary access to an operating system, device account or administrative function.

Customers should provide only the access reasonably necessary for the authorised work.

MKTECHSUPPORT will not intentionally access unrelated personal content without a legitimate service requirement or other lawful basis.

Customers should change temporary passwords or revoke temporary access after service completion where appropriate.

14. Unrepairable Equipment

Some equipment may be assessed as uneconomical or technically impractical to repair.

This may occur where replacement parts are unavailable, damage is extensive or repair costs are disproportionate to the equipment's value.

MKTECHSUPPORT will explain the assessment and available options where reasonably possible.

Any diagnostic charges will remain subject to prior disclosure, authorisation and applicable law.

15. Repair Charges and Payment

Customers are responsible for paying charges that have been properly disclosed, authorised and lawfully incurred.

Payment arrangements and available methods will be communicated through the relevant invoice, quotation or payment process.

Where payment is due before equipment collection or release, this requirement will be communicated in advance and applied in accordance with applicable law.

Further information is available in our Payment Policy.

16. Equipment Collection and Return

Customers will be informed when their equipment is ready for collection or when another return arrangement is available.

Customers should arrange collection within a reasonable period after receiving notice.

Any storage charges or special collection conditions must be disclosed and lawfully agreed to where applicable.

MKTECHSUPPORT will not automatically treat uncollected customer equipment as abandoned or transfer ownership merely because a collection period has passed.

Any further action concerning uncollected equipment will be subject to applicable law and appropriate notice.

17. Three-Month Workmanship Warranty

MKTECHSUPPORT provides a complimentary three-month workmanship warranty on qualifying repairs and technical service work.

This additional warranty generally covers faults directly attributable to the qualifying workmanship originally performed.

It does not automatically cover unrelated faults, new accidental damage or problems caused by subsequent unauthorised alterations.

The three-month workmanship warranty is an additional benefit and does not replace or shorten any statutory warranty or consumer remedy that applies.

In particular, applicable rights relating to repaired goods and replacement parts under the Consumer Protection Act remain unaffected.

Read our Workmanship Warranty Policy for further details.

18. Repeat Faults and Warranty Claims

Customers who experience a fault after a repair should contact MKTECHSUPPORT and provide their repair reference and a description of the problem.

We may need to inspect the equipment to determine whether the issue relates to the original repair, a replacement part or an unrelated cause.

Where the issue is covered by an applicable warranty or statutory remedy, MKTECHSUPPORT will provide the remedy required by the relevant terms and law.

Customers will be informed before any separate chargeable work is undertaken.

19. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are expected to:

  • Provide accurate device and contact information.
  • Disclose known faults and relevant previous repairs.
  • Confirm ownership or appropriate authorisation.
  • Back up important data whenever reasonably possible.
  • Review and approve quotations before chargeable work proceeds.
  • Respond to reasonable requests for repair-related information.
  • Follow reasonable collection and return arrangements.

20. Privacy and Confidentiality

MKTECHSUPPORT may process personal information necessary to manage repair bookings, communicate with customers, perform authorised services and maintain relevant service records.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection requirements, including POPIA.

For additional details, see our Privacy Policy.

21. Consumer Protection and Liability

MKTECHSUPPORT aims to perform repair and technical services with reasonable care, skill and appropriate quality.

Customers retain all applicable rights under South African consumer protection legislation.

Nothing in these Repair Terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Any limitation of liability will apply only to the extent permitted by law and will not override mandatory consumer protections.

22. Complaints and Disputes

If a customer is dissatisfied with a repair or technical service, they should contact MKTECHSUPPORT with the relevant repair reference and details of the concern.

We will make reasonable efforts to investigate the matter and communicate an appropriate response.

Customers remain entitled to pursue remedies through an appropriate consumer protection body, ombud or court where applicable.

23. Changes to Repair Terms

MKTECHSUPPORT may update these Repair Terms & Conditions to reflect changes in services, procedures or applicable law.

Updates will not retrospectively remove rights acquired under applicable legislation or existing binding agreements.

The effective date and version displayed on the Repair Terms page identify the current published policy.
